Proven Subsea Stability for Offshore Wind

As the offshore wind sector expands into deeper and more dynamic waters, innovative solutions are essential for ensuring subsea integrity and environmental protection. The Kyowa Filter unit® Rockbags supplied by Ridgeway have become crucial components in achieving these goals.

Recently, Ridgeway, through their distribution partner Subsea Protection Systems, provided Boskalis with its heavy-duty offshore 8T S-type bags for the remedial protection of cable protection systems on a wind farm off the east coast of the UK.  Boskalis collected the Kyowa Filter Unit Rockbags from Great Yarmouth using one of their own fleet vessels to perform the scope of work.

The flexible Filter unit® Rockbags feature a 100% recycled mesh skin filled with sustainable natural stone and are designed with a single lifting point. They are widely recognised for their versatility and reliability in subsea construction. The Rockbags provide an ideal solution for stabilising cables and pipelines and offer scour protection for foundations, delivering robust outcomes while being environmentally friendly.

Designed for rapid deployment and precise placement, Rockbags perform optimally even in the most challenging marine conditions. Once installed, they naturally conform to the seabed, minimising disturbance while providing immediate stability. This flexibility has made them a trusted choice for offshore wind projects across Europe and beyond, promoting biodiversity with their “Nature Inclusive Design.”

With a proven track record supporting major offshore wind farms, Ridgeway Rockbags play a critical role in ensuring the safe, sustainable, and efficient development of renewable energy infrastructure beneath the waves.

At Ridgeway, we understand the engineering challenges within the offshore wind energy sector. We collaborate with recognised clients, consultants, and contractors in the subsea engineering supply chain, providing additional support through guidelines for on-bottom cable stability analysis and hydraulic model testing.
