The Port of Onslow faced a significant challenge when severe scouring was identified near the wharf structure. If left unaddressed, further erosion threatened to undermine the integrity of the adjacent wharf, potentially leading to structural failure. The situation required a solution that was not only highly effective but also could be rapidly implemented and easily removed to accommodate future wharf extension work.
Kyowa Filter Unit® Rock Bags emerged as the ideal solution. The 4 Tonne Rock Bags were quickly filled, deployed, and positioned to provide immediate scour protection around the affected areas. Their design allows for efficient installation, even in challenging marine environments, offering both stability and flexibility where traditional rock armour use wouldt not be practical.
A key advantage of using Kyowa Filter Unit® Rock Bags was their ease of removal : once the wharf extension project began, the Filter Unit® Rock Bags could be easily retrieved without disrupting ongoing operations or damaging the site.
This project highlights the versatility and efficiency of Kyowa Filter Unit® Rock Bags in providing robust, temporary, and sustainable scour protection solutions for critical marine infrastructure.
