Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags have a proven track record both in the UK and Continental Europe for marine civil engineering works.  With 1T, 2T and 4T sizes being more popular within this sector the product has been utilised for foreshore regeneration, protecting/stabilising riverbanks and bridge foundations whilst also providing support and scour protection for outfall pipes.

It is highly flexible making it very adaptable to complex marine civil engineering works. Units have been successfully installed on uneven slopes and surfaces, integrating effectively with the challenging topographic watercourse environments, while also maintaining and encouraging the development of marine life. As a recognised fast production product with a single point lifting ring, the Ridgeway Filter Unit Rockbags offer a more efficient and cost-effective option compared to traditional solutions, resulting in significant project cost savings.

In particular, the option to utilise smaller 2 tonne versus large rock armour from local quarries and manage more easily in congested work sites and traffic restricted areas.

Application Illustration About Example
River Bank Protection Ridgeway Rockbags Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags are installed along the front of the riverbank to provide independent foot protection. Installation can be carried out using either step piling or random piling methods, depending on site conditions and project requirements. Ridgeway Rockbags Riverbank Protection
Foot Protection Foot Protection Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags are installed on the riverbed to provide a stable and continuous foundation. To achieve a tightly constructed structure with minimal gaps, the use of smaller-sized fill material is recommended. Foot Protection
River Dike Protection River Dike Protection Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags can be installed using the step piling method, which is typically applied on slopes of 1:2 or steeper to provide stable and secure placement. River dike protection
River Dike Protection Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags can be installed using a level installation method, which is typically applied on slopes gentler than 1:2 to ensure stable and even placement. River Dike Protection
Riverbed Protection Riverbed Protection Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags are installed on the riverbed to create a stable and continuous structure. To minimise gaps and ensure proper formation, the use of smaller-sized fill material is recommended. Riverbed Protection
Under Block Under Block When Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags are installed beneath a foot protection block or cover stone, they help stabilise the structure above by reducing the risk of subsidence caused by suction and similar forces. Under Block
Protection of  Front Part Protection Of Front Part Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags can help stabilise bank protection when installed in front of structures such as gabions, sandbags, and sheet piles, providing additional support and erosion resistance. Protection of Front Part
Emergency Procedure Emergency Procedure Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags can be installed in disaster-affected areas to help control erosion. Their flexible design also allows for additional filling or reinforcement where required. Emergency Procedure
Temporary Road Temporary Road To prevent damage to Ridgeway Filter Unit® Rockbags from heavy construction machinery passing over them, it is recommended that a steel plate is placed on top during operations to provide protection. Temporary Road
